Sir Julius Vogel Awards for New Zealand
Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror - 2009 Results Announced

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Association of New Zealand is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Sir Julius Vogel Awards. Categories and winners in each category are listed.

Professional Awards Section
Best Novel

Adult Winner : Dark Heart by Russell Kirkpatrick (HarperVoyager, Harper Collins, NZ)

Best Novel - Young Adult Winner : Thornspell by Helen Lowe (Knopf, Random House Children’s Books, USA)

Best Novella/Novelette Winner : Stroke of Enticement by Nalini Singh, in “The Magical Cat”
(The Berkley Publishing Group, Penguin; USA)

Best Collected Work Winner : The Invisible Road by Elizabeth Knox (HarperVoyager, HarperCollins, NZ)

Best New Talent Winner : Helen Lowe

This year's Sir Julius Vogel Awards were voted on at Conscription, the 2009 New Zealand National Science Fiction Convention, held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Mangere, Auckland, NZ over Queen’s Birthday Weekend.

The Sir Julius Vogel Awards were awarded to professionals and fans for work that was undertaken, completed or released during the 2008 calendar year.
