Penguin Press Buys Kofi Annan Memoir
-- Publishers Weekly, 4/8/2009 11:31:00 AM

Penguin Press has acquired world English rights to a memoir by Nobel Prize winner and former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan. Ann Godoff, president and publisher of the Penguin Press, struck the deal with Andrew Wylie. In a statement from Penguin, Annan said the book will give him his chance to speak. “A lot has been said and written,” Annan said, “but finally I get to tell my own story.” Price was reported to be about $750,000.

According to Penguin, the book will be a "personal biography of global statecraft" and "as much memoir as a guide to world order, past, present and future." The book will detail Annan's view of geopolitics and his interactions with a variety of world leaders, from George W. Bush to Nelson Mandela and the Pope. No pub date yet.
