RIP Sandy Campbell from Scholastic Australia
Sandy Campbell, a stalwart of the Children’s Book Industry who passed away last week, was for many years the well-loved and respected Publicity Manager for Scholastic Australia.
Sandy was never short of unique and fun ideas; she organised countless book launches, author tours and children’s parties. Always ready to embrace large fundraising challenges, Sandy helped organise the company’s Variety Bash teams. She was also a tireless worker for the Book Bunker Library at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead.
Her passion for books and their creators permeated everything she did. Authors and illustrators remained her personal friends to this day. She was a warm and generous person and was very much loved by everyone she worked with.
Sandy supported Dromkeen, The National Gallery of Picture Book Art and always attended the annual Dinner and Presentation of the Dromkeen Medal. Her absence will be greatly missed and honoured at the function this coming Saturday.
Sandy’s funeral is being held on Wednesday 25th February. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad loss.
