STOCK OF NEW DRYDEN TITLE ARRIVES

A container ship with 10,000 copies of UNLIMITED (The New Learning Revolution and The Seven Ways to Unlock It), by Gordon Dryden and Jeanette Vos, arrives in Auckland ex-Shanghai tomorrow (Saturday), and will start moving into bookshops later next week.

The 302-page, A4, landscape, hard-cover book, with a color photo on every page, follows the Dryden-Vos success with their five editions of The Learning Revolution.
But long-time journalist, author and broadcasting talkshow host Dryden says the new book is in an entirely different presentation. Thirty years ago, to write a “semi-autobiography,”, Out Of The Red, “I first wrote the most favorable review I could think of to describe the book—and then wrote the book to deserve it.”

When he crafted the first edition of The Learning Revolution (a New Zealand-only edition) in 1993, “I decided to present it as a model for speed-reading, with every left-hand page a ‘poster page’, so first-time browsers could scan the 544-page book in fifteen to thirty minutes—then read the opposite text as one’s leisure.”

But for Unlimited, “it’s really presented like a television series. Every page includes a large, full-length panel with a color photo and succinct heading. This means skim-readers can scan the book like a television story board to gain the big picture. Then they can read the adjoining text of all thirteen chapters—like thirteen mini-books on the future.”Those chapters fit into four parts: The Future, Your Future, The Revolution 1.0 (updating some aspects of The Learning Revolution), and The Revolution 2.0 (on globalizing the revolution.

Dryden describes is as “a cross between Future Shock for the twenty-first century—and how everyone can take advantage of that future by continually adding new skills—mainly learned on line.

Unlimited—published by The Learning Web, in association with David Bateman (for New Zealand bookshop distribution) has a recommended retail price of $49.99.
