From Aussie school to Booker best

ARAVIND ADIGA was "a joy to read", wrote his English teacher, Judith Anderson, on a teacher's reference in 1992.
Now 16 years later and with one Man Booker Prize to his name for his debut novel, The White Tiger, it seems a few people might agree with her.Ms Anderson, now retired, was among several of the staff and former students of James Ruse Agricultural High School who learnt yesterday morning, Sydney time, that the former student had won the literary award - becoming only one of three writers to do so with a first novel.
"Aravind was definitely one of our very special students," she said. "Right from the time I first read his writing. I thought actually he might do something with the United Nations."
