After an enjoyable glass of Sacred Hill Chardonnay 2007 in the Lido Cinema "library" we settled down to watch this French movie which Annie was keen to see and which I knew nothing about.

It proved to be great Friday evening entertainment - touching, funny and wholly entertaining.

Based on a best-selling 2004 French novel, Ensemble, c'est tout, by Anna Gavalda, the movie is the story of three unlikely flatmates and the grandmother of one of them.

And yes, the lead actress, (pic above right), is the beautiful and talented Audrey Tautou, famous for the superb title role she played in the 2001 movie, Amelie. But all four leads were well cast and acted wonderfully in that typical enigmatic French style.

Vintage has published a film tie-in edition paperback.
