Iconic publishing names disappearing
Bookseller/Publisher Brian Phillips responds:

Your blog made me think about NZ imprints that have ceased to exist as live imprints....

A quick off the top of my head list reads:

AH & AW Reed
Beckett Publishing/Beckett Sterling
Benton Ross
Blackwood and Janet Paul
Bush Press
Capper Press
John McIndoe
Lodestar Press
Moa
Nova Pacifica
Pegasus Press
Pacific Publishing
Tandem Press
Whitcombe and Tombs/Whitcoulls

Undoubtedly there are a few more besides these...
At least both Godwit and Shoal Bay have been preserved by their new owners.

Footnote:
Bookman Beattie would be interested to hear from anyone who can think of other New Zealand imprints that have disappeared. Either add a comment to the blog or e-mail me at graham@beattie-boyd.co.nz and I’ll compile a list for later posting.

    Hi Graham,
Brian may be a little premature in listing Bush Press and John Mcindoe ceasing to exist as live imprints.
In February of this year John McIndoe published a revised edition of Joan Bishop's excellent NZ Crockpot and Slow Coooker Cookbook.
A recent publication by Bush Press is Warkworth to the Coast.
    Cheers,
    Jeff
