BBC Looks to Repeat Lonely Planet Deal
February 07, 2008 From The Bookseller

Following its acquisition of a 75 percent stake in Lonely Planet, the BBC is looking to invest in more publishing companies.
The Times said that the BBC's commercial arm BBC Worldwide is talking to private equity groups about financing more deals. After close scrutiny it has decided against a bid for licensing group Entertainment Rights, but Hit Entertainment may still be on its radar, the Times speculates. "It is understood that BBC Worldwide would be open to a number of deals in a range of media sectors...Production houses and publishing groups are also likely targets."
