WRITERS ON MONDAYS - For Wellingtonians
15 October: Life Class - Brenda Niall
Brenda Niall is one of the very few writers to be awarded an AO (Order of Australia) for ‘services to Australian literature, as academic, biographer and literary critic’. She is the author of four award-winning biographies including a five-generation study of the Boyd dynasty of artists, and a life of the Sydney painter, Judy Cassab. She has also written on children’s fiction and edited the Oxford Book of Australian Letters. Her book reviews appear regularly in Australian journals and newspapers. This year she published Life Class, in which she retraces her literary footsteps to discuss the pleasures and pitfalls of biographical discovery.
