BOOKMAN BEATTIE IN LONDON

Tuesday 9 October and man did it rain. It bucketed down all day and I came home after a day of bookshop visiting looking and feeling like a drowned rat. It had been fine for over a week and will apparently be fine for the next few days but today..........
In spite of the weather I covered a fair bit of territory getting around a number of bookshops noting in particular many recently released titles that we haven't yet seen in New Zealand and also the astonishing amount of author visit activity.

I missed Bill Clinton (Giving) by 4 days, bugger (!), but others around this week and next include Jeanette Winterson (The Stone Gods), Douglas Coupland (The Gum Thief), Mike Carey (Dead Men's Boots), Alice Sebold (The Almost Moon), Ken Follett (World Without End), Marianne Faithfull (Memories, Dreams & Reflections), and Ronnie Wood (Ronnie), there is lots more but that will give some idea.
Re-read Mister Pip overnight on the plane and enjoyed it all over again. Fingers crossed. It has great display in all the shops I visited today.
I'll sleep well tonight.
