Her book explores why Phar Lap meant so much to people, why he became a Depression-era hero and national icon, and the compulsion that drives people who love horses. An award-winning author, Kelly Ana has written four novels, three social histories, a memoir, short stories and poetry. She holds the Maori Writer’s Residency at the Michael King Writers’ Centre this year.
