Margaret Mahy's last published title?
Published October 2009 by Harper Collins - NZ rrp $45.00 - Edited by Tessa Duder. Illustrated by David Elliot
And here are two of David Elliot's wonderful images from it:
Lower illustration for the poem How the World Ended and upper for The Tin Can Band.
Lorraine Steele advises:
AUT Media published what I think was probably Margaret's last book.
some Aotearoa was published in December 2011, info attached. This book was a revised version of an earlier Awesome Aotearoa, but was substantially updated to include topical events such as The Rugby World Cup and the Christchurch earthquake. It was given a new ISBN, and has sold very well into stores nationwide.
Exisle Publishing markets and distributes AUT Media's books.
Lorraine also gave me this delightful snippet:
I remember driving Margaret from event to event while she'd recite a seemingly endless array of poems, with me the lucky audience. Lorain Day (who published Margaret while at HarperCollins) wrote something beautiful about her when she broke the news to us yesterday...
'In her own words she has spun on her halfpenny of time, and burned with the fiery power of the dance and the rhyme, and fallen back to earth in a sprinkle of golden dust...'
