The new Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet that came out this week may give Amazon a run for its money. The $199 8GB Nook Tablet, which has smaller storage than the $249 Nook Tablet, competes directly with the Kindle Fire on storage space and price. And one analyst thinks that this will affect Kindle Fire sales.
eBookNewser has more: “Barclays analyst Anthony DiClemente lowered his estimate for Kindle Fire sales this year from 18.4 million units to 17.1 million. DiClemente also lowered his estimate for Kindle eReader sales to 18.4 million which is down from his earlier prediction of 23.8 million.”
The analyst also questions how many Kindle Fires Amazon sold in the fourth quarter last year. Barron’s explains : “DiClemente also now thinks Amazon sold fewer Fires in the fourth quarter than previously imagined: he now models the company having shipped 5 million units versus 5.5 million previously, which he now says was ‘too aggressive’.”
