New Zealand Book Month - Project Director

Job description:

New Zealand Book Month is a dynamic, vibrant and exciting project designed to encourage New Zealanders of all ages to celebrate books, stories, reading.

The New Zealand Book Month Charitable Trust is looking for a Project Director to take over from the current Director after two very successful years and continue to build and develop the event, now in its 5th year.

We seek someone experienced in raising money, delivering events and working collaboratively who wants to engage with the entire book industry and our sponsors to further our shared goals.
This is a sole charge role, requiring someone with very good administrative, communication and organisational skills who has the capacity to work on their own pulling in contractors to deliver specific outcomes. Reporting to a very supportive Board the Project Director needs to reflect the attitude of the event itself and be able to demonstrate real creativity, excitement and passion.
This is a fantastic role for someone who wants to make their mark and develop this high profile month-long event.

The contract will last 9 months (to be negotiated), 3 months of which are part time, with a salary commensurate.

Footnote:

Quite a tricky position to fill as it is neither really full-ltime nor part-time. One imagines one of the many freelance publicists in the book publishing industry may be tempted to add the role to their portfolio. Or perhaps someone like Michelle, a new author who is happy to have a portion of the year available for writing. Good luck to whomever is successful, it is not an easy role and really needs new direction and focus in my opinion.
