PRESIDENT OBAMA READING NETHERLAND

FROM THE NEW YORKER

April 29, 2009
Straight to the Top

Watch the best-seller lists this week, kids. The President has told the New York Times Magazine that he gets so tired of briefings that he has taken to reading a novel in the evenings—“Netherland,” by Joseph O’Neill (which James Wood reviewed).
The last time a book was mentioned in the same sentence as Obama (which was just last week), it went straight to the top. I guess “The Open Veins of Latin America” wasn’t the relaxing read he was looking for?
