I should not really be allowed in Magazzino, the fine magazine specialist store just around the corner from home in Ponsonby Road, but today I went there with a purpose and was able to restrict my purchase to the magazine I went there to buy. This is unusual as I normally emerge with at least five or six.
Today though I went there to buy the June/July issue of Australia Vogue Entertaining & Travel, mone of my favourite foodie mags, along with Cuisine and Australian Gourmet Traveller. The reason for seeking this particular magazine was because we had been looking at it in Rosehip Cafe at lunchtime and saw a most appealing recipe- Tagliatelle al funghi - which we decided was perfect for dinner tonight when we get home from an early movie. Pretty feeble excuse for buying the magazine as we could easily have remembered the recipe but hey, I wanted the magazine anyway! I am a sucker for a good magazine, especially where food, wine and travel are involved.
I liked this quote from Ruth Ritchie in another section of the magazine - "Some foods only exist in the home, like tinned tomato soup and toast soldiers:.
What a great quote. I don't feel so bad about serving up Shepherds Pie now.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy yor 'Vogue' dinner Graham !
